Student Affiliated Groups
Purpose
The purpose of CPFI affiliate student group should be to motivate and equip pharmacy students to practice faith in Jesus Christ in their personal and professional lives. The purpose is also to encourage and develop an active Christian witness and evangelism through prayer, Bible study, outreach and fellowship. The affiliated group should be evangelical in outlook and purpose; and activities consistent with this biblical view are encouraged and promoted. These student groups are an opportunity for Christian student to have a common affiliation with like-minded students of their school of pharmacy and also with those of other schools of pharmacy throughout the US and abroad.

Affiliation
To be recognized as an affiliated student group you will need to provide a written request to CPFI stating that you want to be acknowledged as an affiliated student group. The Application/Update Information Form for Student Chapter Groups needs to be completed annually and includes the names of upcoming officers and/or key people in your group, the name of your advisor, as well as the name of the group and school name. Although a structured formal group is not a requirement, the contact information of the advisor and at least one student is necessary. This is needed to help us have current contact information of active affiliated student groups, for accurate mailing and webpage display. An affiliated student group may use CPFI in the name of their student group. The local chapter will need to develop their own bylaws. Attached is a sample template that can be used to develop your chapter bylaws. Bylaw Template All of the student chapter forms and many helpful suggestions for building a strong student chapter are included in the CPFI Student Chapter Manual.

Autonomy
Each chapter will have total autonomy and will be responsible for all of their activities. Since each affiliated group is autonomous, totally independent and responsible for itself, each student group will be different in make up and activities. Some affiliated student groups meet for fellowship as much as once a week and others as little as once a semester. Other activities may include Bible study, prayer, singing, special guest speakers, potlucks and/or discussions of bioethical issues, etc. Groups can range from very informal, such as having an occasional activities/meeting, to a very structured organized group that has officers and a set of by-laws as established by the student group. A student groups desiring to raise funds and/or establish a checking account will be responsible for developing its own incorporation. The best source for information on how to accomplish this would be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Student CPFI Membership
While CPFI encourages all pharmacy students to become actively involved in an affiliated student group, membership in a student group does not automatically confer membership in CPFI. Therefore, we also encourage each pharmacy student to join CPFI individually for a student membership contribution of $20 per year and completing the CPFI Membership Application (available under the "Membership" tab).
